‘Love is the astrolabe of God’s mysteries.’
Jalaluddin Rumi, Persian poet/mystic. First, has anyone heard of an ‘Astrolabe’? It’s an ancient instrument from the Hellenistic era, used by astronomers to calculate latitude, identify stars or planets or determine the altitude of heavenly bodies above the horizon. Nothing to do with love there, right? Not literally, no.
But metaphorically speaking, let’s tap into Rumi’s poetic muse. Whoever truly loves, changes the way they perceive the world. Love is transforming - it deepens human existence, allows us to experience and understand things which are unable to be grasped by intellect alone.
