Well said Maya Angelou, American poet/memoirist! Yes, even if you’re a sporting hero who won three or four gold at the Olympics, it’s not what you did. It’s the exhilaration you brought your nation that people will remember, more than the total number of medals in your kitbag. In Australia that might be Dawn Fraser, Cathy Freeman or Ian Thorpe. How many golds did they win? You’re reaching for your mobile, right?
It’s not what you said either. And you don’t have to be famous to be remembered by others in this way. Kindness is a game-changer every day of the week in all the little tucked-away corners of human endeavour. No one forgets an act of kindness. Ever.
